THE PROCESS

LIVE WOOD TIMBER FRAMES PROCESS

DESIGNING THE PROJECT

When a client or builder contacts us, we will sketch up some plans after meeting. If working with a builder, we will use those existing plans and sketch up the timber portion of the project. We then send our plans and designs to an engineer to get structural approval if needed.

oRDERING THE MATERIALS

We will discuss timber preferences and what is needed structurally for the project. Then, we will order timber materials from a sawyer or timber supplier based on those needs.

CUTTING THE MATERIAL AND FITTING UP THE FRAME

Once the timber has arrived, we will begin cutting the frame in our shop.  Live Wood Timber Frames finishes detail of each cut with hand tools to piece together a perfect mortise and tenon joinery. We fit the frame together after the frame is cut so that we know everything will run smoothly on site when we are ready for the install.

RAISING OR INSTALLING ON SITE

Depending on the size of the project, we will arrange for the appropriate lifting equipment for the raising or install. We will wrap up any finishing details on site; this includes placing the wooden pegs at each mortise and tenon joint. We hope to make a lifetime partnership when the project is complete.
